On the way, we will have chance to sample a few bites Cambodian sticky-rice snacks before going for guided tour at Kompong Khleang floating village at Tonle Sap Lake, once we arrived at Kompong Khleang boat pier, embark a sheltered boat which slowly cruises along the canal and around the region that admired by amazing houses atop high poles, come across the highlight of fishing activities as well as see people selling fruits/vegetable/meats on their boats, you sometimes see kids in student uniforms coming back from their classes. Continue the boat excursion to visit Kompong Khleang floating community, witness how life works on the water and how people make the lake as home and see the largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia “Tonle Sap”, learn from your tour guide about ecosystem and its rich biosphere reserve.

Continuing our journey, we will have a short visit to the ancient bridge at Banteay Kdei and stop at Skun village is famed for its deep-fried crispy spiders and other insects (crickets, grasshopper or water bugs etc.) before driving directly to Phnom Penh International Airport. You will arrive Phnom Penh between 5.00pm to 6.30pm depending on how much time you spend at each places you visit on the way.

You can choose to visit Kampong Phluk village instead of Kompong Khleang.

The differences between these two villages:

  1. Kampong Phluk is a smaller village dotting with stilted houses, and it is similar fishing village, daily life and with other interesting activities compare to Kompong Khleang village but Kampong Phluk is very famed for its flooded forest that is an ideal for tourists to go by rowing boats to see its lush mangroves as well as get the feel of the serenity while a canoe slowly takes you to see the surrounding.
  2. As Kompong Khleang doesn’t have any flooded forests, its captivating floating village provides a nice boat excursion to observe a good insight into a daily life of the people living in their floating homes which shift around based on seasons. However, Kompong Khleang is available from rainy season (August to early October) to dry season (Mid October to May) while Kampong Phluk can be only explored from rainy season to early February.
